Rowan

Sorbus aucuparia

Rowan berries can be used for increasing a person’s appetite and for treating indigestion.

The rowan, or mountain ash, grows into a tree or a bush. Its leaves are lobed, serrate and pinnate. The tree blossoms in the early summer, forming a corymbose inflorescence of many small flowers. The rowan thrives in open, sunny and even oligotrophic habitats. Rowan berries and leaves are rich in vitamin C. In addition, the berries contain diverse acids and sugars, for example, D-sorbitol that suits for diabetics.
